Yikhazqal 33:10–16 (Ezekiel)
"And you, son of Adam, say to the house of Yashar'al: Thus you have spoken, saying, 'Our Pashaʿim and our Khataim are upon us, and because of them we waste away. How then shall we live?' Say to them: 'As I live,' declares Yahuah, 'I do not delight in the death of the Rashaʿ, but that the Rashaʿ Shub from his Darak and live. Shub! Shub from your Raʿ Darakim! Why should you die, house of Yashar'al?' And you, son of Adam, say to the children of your people: The Tsadaqah of the Tsadaq shall not deliver him in the day of his Pashaʿ, and the Rashaʿ shall not stumble because of his Rashaʿ in the day that he Shub from his Rashaʿ. Neither shall the Tsadaq be able to live by his Tsadaqah in the day that he Khata. When I say to the Tsadaq, 'You shall surely live,' and he trusts in his Tsadaqah and commits ʿAwal, none of his Tsadaqah shall be remembered, but because of the ʿAwal that he has done, he shall die. And when I say to the Rashaʿ, 'You shall surely die,' and he Shub from his Khata and does Mishpat and Tsadaqah, if the Rashaʿ restores a pledge, returns what he took by robbery, Halak in the Khukim of life without doing ʿAwal, he shall surely live. He shall not die. None of his Khataim that he committed shall be remembered against him. He has done Mishpat and Tsadaqah. He shall surely live."
Meaning
Man, a human being, humankind.
Yashar'al, the covenant people; those who persevere with El.
Transgression, rebellion; a willful breaking of the covenant. Pashaʿim are transgressions.
To miss the mark, to sin; failing to meet Yahuah's standard. Khataim are sins.
The personal Name of the Creator, written with the four letters yod, he, waw, he. It is His Name, not a title.
The wicked one, the guilty, the one in the wrong. Rashaʿim are the wicked.
To turn back, return, repent; to turn from a wrong way back to Yahuah.
Way, road, path; the course of one's conduct. Plural Darakim.
Evil, bad, harmful; wrong in nature or in effect.
Righteousness and right conduct; being in the right and doing right. Tsadaq is the righteous one.
Injustice, an unrighteous act; what is crooked and unfair.
Judgment, just ruling, ordinance; the right verdict and the way of justice. Plural Mishpatim.
To walk, go, conduct oneself; to live out a way of life.
A prescribed statute, an engraved decree fixed by Yahuah. Plural Khukim; feminine Khukah.
