Did They Actually Order the Continual Offering to Stop?
Period: Antiochus IV · Primary Witness: 1 Maccabees 1:41–50 · Key: 1 Maccabees 1:45
What the ancient record says
The decree reached directly into sanctuary practice; among prohibited practices are the regular offerings associated with the sanctuary, governmental interference with a practice Yashar'al understood as instruction received from Yahuah, placed beside prohibitions on Shabbath and appointed times: a coordinated group of restrictions, not one isolated act.
What we can and cannot prove
1 Maccabees attributes this to the Antiochene program; the original decree with physical signature cannot be produced.
Read it for yourself. 1 Maccabees 1:44–50 (esp. 1:45), in context.
Evidence strength: Strong ancient literary evidence.
Question answered: Was the sanctuary's established offering practice specifically targeted? Yes. 1 Maccabees explicitly includes it among practices ordered to cease.
